Web Design for Authors - Tips and Advice

Making Changes To Your Website

Once your website has been launched, it would be unusual if you did not want to make some changes from time to time.

Sometimes you may want to simply update the words and images on your site. For example, you might want to change your profile text or add a book review. These are known as 'content edits'.

At other times, you may want to make larger changes, such as adding a new book page, a blog, or a press cuttings gallery. These are known as 'structural edits'. Structural edits are something we would need to do for you, as they require advanced coding and design skills.

You have two options for content edits, depending on your level of technical aptitude:

Maintaining the site content yourself
If you want to make changes to the text and images on your site yourself, you will need a 'self-editable site'.

You will need a good level of computer expertise to use the WordPress editor. Changing text is simple. It is just like using any text editor. Changing images is more difficult as images need to be resized, compressed and uploaded to the media library ready for presentation on the web page.

‘Paid for’ website content editing service
If computers and technical matters are not your thing, or you simply don't have much spare time, all you need to do is send us your replacement text and images, and we will update your site for you.

Structural changes to your website

You may need to make structural changes to your website, such as adding a new page, updating the navigation system, or adding new functionality, such as a blog. These types of changes are more complicated to implement. Just send us a brief, and we will give you an estimated cost for the update.
